T. Sean Herbert

  • An award-winning journalist and broadcast news producer who has traveled the world telling stories.
  • He began his career at ABC News in 1988. He joined CBS News in October 1991, covering all general elections, and contributing to nearly all of the network’s breaking news military coverage.
  • In October 1998, he helped launch the weeknight edition of 60 Minutes. He worked with the late Mike Wallace and Ed Bradley, Morley Safer, Steve Kroft, Charlie Rose, and Scott Pelley. In 2002, he was a producer at 48 Hours before heading up the CBS News military analyst’s desk in January 2003 in preparation of the war in Iraq.
  • In 2004 he became News Director at RNN TV, the largest independent cable station in America. He helped launch several news and political talk programs, including Richard French Live (recipient of a 2006 regional Emmy for its reporting on the war in Iraq).
  • In 2006, he helped launch CNBC’s news magazine, Business Nation, and produced several business-related documentaries.
  • In 2007, he helped launch ESPN’s news magazine, E:60. His work also appeared on ABC News Nightline, SportsCenter, and ESPN.com.
  • In 2012, he produced several long form projects for AXS-TV’s Dan Rather Reports before returning to CBS News.
  • In 2014, he received an Alfred I. duPont Award for his contribution to the CBS News coverage while on assignment at the mass shooting at the Sandy Hook elementary school in Newtown, CT, in December 2012.
  • He is an adjunct professor and frequent guest lecturer on the topics of media law, sports reporting, ethics, and interviewing techniques. He was a featured speaker at the VII Astana Economic Forum in Kazakhstan.
  • Mr. Herbert and his wife, actress/producer Taryn Grimes-Herbert, have a production company, UnXpected Development, LLC, where he develops, produces, and directs projects, for among others; Knights of Columbus, Tauck, and Efran Films.
  • He received a B.A. in political science and journalism from Rutgers University, and a M.S. in journalism from Northwestern University.
